About The Porch Restaurant in Newport Beach
The Porch, located in Newport Beach, California, was created for the locals – a place that serves craft styled cocktails and great food in a comfortable atmosphere that’s neither too casual nor too sophisticated.
Owners Dennis and Christine Overstreet have opened several restaurants in Newport Beach including Overstreet’s Wine Merchant & Bar, Le Quai, The Dock and now the Porch.
The Porch was chosen to bring back fond memories of gathering on a neighbor’s porch to chat and visit with friends. A place with familiar faces and comfortable surroundings where you can quench your thirst and satisfy your appetite.
Catering to all types of palates, The Porch offers comfort foods you’ll yearn. Vegetarians will delight in the Flatbreads or the Grilled Artichoke with Basil Aoli. The meat-and-potato types will love the Signature all Beef Chili or the Jalapeno, Bacon Mac n Cheese.
The wine list is a cross section of domestic and French wines, (Overstreet’s favorite wine regions). It’s interesting but not intimidating, and the prices are fair. Wines are offered by the glass or bottle.
Our bar serves up hand crafted cocktails–the difference is in the details. The Porch bartenders prefer to use fresh citrus and agave nectar when concocting their specialty cocktails menu. The Porch’s full bar offers an eclectic mix of premium vodkas, gin, tequila, bourbon and whiskey.
About the Owners
Dennis Overstreet opened The Wine Merchant in Beverly Hills in 1971. The wine business is still his first love, as far as beverages are concerned. For five years, the Overstreet’s owned and operated the wildly successful bar and smoking lounge in Beverly Hills with George Hamilton called Hamilton’s from 1996 to 2001.
In 1998, the Overstreet’s discovered the charm of Newport Beach and purchased a cottage to use as a respite from the busy LA life. Before long, Overstreet was looking to open a satellite store for his Wine Merchant in Lido Marina Village in the heart of Newport Beach. The Overstreet Wine Merchant and Bar was a favorite stop for wine enthusiasts from 2002 to 2005.
In 2005, the Overstreet’s bought the building, which was affectionately known by many locals as The Raft. This unique and charming al fresco style, waterfront patio is now a destination. In 2009, the Overtreet’s changed the name to The Dock (after a year hiatus).
At that time, Overstreet bought Aubergine restaurant in Cannery Village to compliment their restaurant Le Quai. Aubergine transitioned into a variety of venues until late August 2010, where it is now the home of The Porch.
